The sports scandal of the moment is Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish Football Federation, who decided to kiss Jennifer Hermoso on the mouth, without consent after winning the world title in Australia last Sunday.

This is already a world scandal that has transcended sports and that will almost certainly bring terrible consequences to the leader.

The Deputy in the Spanish Congress of Deputies, María Concepción Gamarra Ruiz-Clavijo, described the behavior of the Spanish leader as “embarrassing” and regretted that this action took some of the spotlight off the incredible performance of the soccer players.

Pedro Sanchez, President of the Government of Spain, received the World Cup champions and took advantage of the moment to comment on the behavior of Luis Rubiales when he kissed the soccer player Jennifer Hermoso without consent.

“I think that what we saw was an unacceptable gesture, that Rubiales’ apologies are not enough, they are not even adequate, he has to continue taking steps to clarify what we saw,” the president of the Spanish government told the press.

One of the first complaints that became known was that of the president of the National School of Soccer Coaches of Spain, Miguel Galán. The complaint was published by The objective before the Higher Sports Council in that country.

The complaint requests that a file be opened against Luis Rubiales for breach of sports law 39/2022 for a sexist act due to the kiss on the mouth of the player Jennifer Hermoso.

While waiting for the Extraordinary General Assembly of the RFEF, negative reactions about Luis Rubiales will continue to come out, it remains to wait for the final decision on the sanctioning actions or on whether he will continue to command the Spanish Football Federation.

Megan Rapinoe attacks Luis Rubiales for kissing Jenni Hermoso: “His behavior shows a deep level of misogyny and sexism”

Megan Rapinoeone of the best-known voices in women’s football and who has fought to achieve equal economic prizes between men’s and women’s teams, shared his opinion regarding the behavior of Luis Rubiales, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), who after the final of the Australia-New Zealand World Cup 2023 he touched his private parts in victory and, later, At the medal ceremony, he stole a kiss on the mouth from soccer player Jennifer Hermoso.

“It made me think about how much we have to put up with. What kind of upside down world are we in? On the biggest stage, where you should be celebrating, Jenni has to get physically assaulted by this guy.”, expressed the American in an interview published by The Atlantic.

Immediately afterwards, he expressed his feelings about what happened in the box, when he touched his crotch to celebrate in a box where he was with Queen Letizia and Princess Sofía.

“There was another image that points to such a deep level of misogyny and sexism in that federation and in that man at the final whistle, just grabbing his crotch,” he added.

Luis Rubiales is in the eye of the hurricane

After the controversy that the kiss raised, various political personalities have criticized his behavior.

The Acting Minister for Gender Equality, Irene Montero said: “An unauthorized kiss is a form of sexual violence that women suffer on a daily basis, and until now invisible, and that we cannot normalize“, something that was seconded by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, and the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles.

Faced with this pressure and other media pressure, Luis Rubiales recorded a video asking for an unusual apology, “I have no other,” he said, to those who felt offended by something he considered normal.

For his part, the Prime Minister of Spain, in addition to criticizing his behavior, also judged his “apologies” and described them as “insufficient” and “inadequate.”

“I think that what we saw was an unacceptable gesture, that Rubiales’ apologies are not enough, they are not even adequate, You have to continue taking steps to clarify what we saw,” said President Pedro Sánchez. Of course, he clarified that his dismissal could only be decided by the General Assembly of the RFEF

THE RFEF convened an Extraordinary Assembly

Hours after the opinion of the president of the Spanish government was disseminated, the RFEF announced on its official account of the social network X, formerly called Twitter, that it had just called an Extraordinary General Assembly, as a matter of urgency, to discuss the issue.

“Based on the latest events that occurred during the award ceremony for the Women’s World Cup won by the Spanish National Team last Sunday in Sydney, we want to inform you that the internal proceedings of the Federation regarding integrity issues are open.as well as the rest of the applicable protocols, “said the Federation in a statement released on the network.
