Ron DeSantis, Republican candidate for the candidacy for next year’s electoral process in the primaries, he got into a new mess after issuing an unfortunate comment that was funneled to Republican voters whom he allegedly called “apathetic vessels.”
when questioned during an interview with the site Florida Standard, about the criticism received from the Republican defenders of the MAGA current, defining it as a “RINO“, or “Republican in name only”, to the current governor of Florida sIt occurred to him to launch a response without imagining the repercussions it would have for his campaign.
“We have a current in our party that believes that supporting Trump defines whether you are a RINO or not. So you might be the most conservative person since sliced bread, unless you’re kissing her behind$#%, they’ll call you RINO in a way.
If all we are are listless ships that are supposed to follow, you already know, whatever comes out every morning on Truth Social, that’s not going to be a lasting movement.”he emphasized.
Hours later, some members of his party compared the 44-year-old politician’s comment to those made by Democrat Hillary Clinton during her 2016 campaign.
Through the Truth Social platform, Donald Trump Jr. was the first to point out that his Florida adversary was taking a page from “Hillary Clinton’s crooked strategy.”
And the former president’s comment was joined by Jason Miller, his senior campaign adviser.
“It looks like Ron DeSanctimonious just had his deplorable moment. Not good!” he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
And in case it was clear who the Florida governor was addressing with his comments, Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, put it further.
“He called all Trump supporters ‘apathetic vessels’ just like Crooked did in 2016 when he called us ‘Deplorables.’ How did that work out?”, he said in a brief statement.
However, in an intervention with Fox News, DeSantis ruled out that he has gone against all Republicans, since his comments he said were only for those determined to attack him.
“The people in Congress that I was referring to have attacked me and tried to somehow say that I was a RINO, they are putting entertainment and personality above principle,” he said.
