Edson Alvarez already lived his first minutes in the Premier League with Westa ham United this Sunday when entering the field at 80′ in the game in which the Hammers defeated at home the Chelsea by score of 3-1.

The midfielder who stepped foot in the London Olympic Stadium for 10 minutes expressed his emotions after his debut and assured that he is not coming to the team as a substitute for the now Arsenal player Declan Rice, something that has been handled like this in different local media, but that he will seek to do his own story.

“I am quite happy to have my first minutes. Unfortunately I was going to enter earlier, but because of the expulsion I had to wait, but I am very happy, because we got a good result against an important team and all that adds to all these emotions“, the Mexican told the EFE agency in the mixed zone of the building where he made his debut in the English league.

Álvarez, who arrived from Ajax in exchange for about $45 million dollarshas already noticed the change of competition of the eredivisie dutch a la Premier League.

“Totallye, there were actions where the players are too fast and you have to learn, you have to take experience of each action. I know that I’m not in my best shape yetI’ve only been training for a week, but you’re picking up all that with training sessions and matches. If I prepare very well I know that I can fight for a position“Added the midfielder, who also remembered watching this league on television.

“This league for me is the most important in the world. Every weekend you try to watch the Premier teams. Being here is very motivating.”

For many, Alvarez’s arrival in east London was an attempt by the “Hammers” to find a replacement for Declan Rice, on which the team’s game revolved in recent seasons, but the Mexican tried to lower these expectations.

“I respect what he is as a player. I have seen it, everyone knows it, but I come to make my own story, to contribute what I can contribute.“Concluded the Aztec player.
