Santiago Giménez made his net debut with his first goal of the season in the Eredivisie in Feyenoord’s 2-2 draw against Sparta Rotterdam on the second day of the championship.
The Mexican scored Feyenoord’s first goal of the season after drawing 0-0 on the first matchday. The club was trailing 2-0 in the 75th minute and they were able to salvage the tie to pick up 2 points in the first two rounds.
Santiago Giménez took advantage of a great cross into the area to jump alone and put the discount on minute 76 of the game and thus score the first goal of this season. The Mexican has already scored 16 goals in 34 games played in the Dutch first division.
Feyenoord was able to rescue the tie with a goal in the 90+1 minute from Leo Sauer that puts them in the middle of the table after not getting a victory in the first two dates of the tournament.
The club will face Amere at home on the next day on Sunday, August 27. Feyenoord, current Eredivisie championwill play the UEFA Champions League this season.
Amere has lost in its first two dates 1-4 against Twente and this Sunday they fell 2-1 against Fortuna Sittard.
Ajax without Edson Álvarez draws against Excelsior
Ajax is in a new stage without the Mexican players Edso Álvarez and Jorge Sánchez in one of the most important clubs in the Netherlands.
