Jake Paul responds to Oscar de la Hoya's praise and assures that he will fight for the title in 2026

After Óscar de la Hoya praised Jake Paul after his unanimous decision victory over Nate Diaz, the youtuber was motivated by the words of the former champion of six weight classes and He assured that in 2026 he will fight for a world boxing title.

On the B/S podcast, Paul expressed that De La Hoya would surely was impressed with his performance against Diazso he believes this fight helped people realize that he takes the sport very seriously and is not kidding.

“I saw one of the first tweets from a highly respected boxer, Oscar De La Hoya, he is the first to put the narrative and agree with me that I will fight for a world title. I think after he saw my performance over ten rounds, throwing 500 punches in ten rounds…which is more than Canelo (Alvarez) averaged per round in his last fight, people are like ‘Oh my God,’” he said.

“People say ‘Oh my gosh, he did ten rounds, what would he look like in three years?’ Because 2026 is when I say that I will fight for a world title. I think this fight did something to make people finally realize that I wasn’t kidding. Maybe people thought I was just saying it for marketing and to create hype, but maybe now they’ll realize I’m fucking serious,” he added.

It should be noted that a few days ago, Óscar De la Hoya thanked Jake Paul for attracting young people to the sport of his love, but that many things about the ring still need to be improved so that, perhaps, in the future I can get the opportunity to fight for a world title.
