Hilary downgraded to a tropical storm after impacting this Sunday morning as a category 1 hurricane in the state of Baja California, Mexico, as reported by the Mexican National Meteorological Service (SMN).

Given the gusts of wind and heavy rains, the Mexican authorities ask the population to maintain preventive measures and locate themselves in safe areas.

The meteorological phenomenon claimed its first victim on Saturday due to the fact that a man who was traveling in a vehicle with his family, in the municipality of Mulegé, Baja California Sur, died when he was dragged away by the current of a stream.
