Jaime Lozano, who as interim coach he led Mexico to the Gold Cup title this Sundayinsisted this Sunday after being champion that is open to continue as a permanent coach if the top managers of the Tri they deem appropriate.
“For my part, as long as I can help the national team, I’ll be ready.” said the coach at a press conference.
“I I signed a contract for the Gold Cup. I think from now on I’m free. Note that sometimes we Mexicans do not believe much in the process, but even if I had lost the final, I think that other things must be valued, not only the final result”, added the coach, considering that if the team respects development with patience and calm, the results will be clearly better.
A goal from Santi Giménez in the 88th minute gave the Gold Cup to Mexico this Sundaywho defeated a Panamanian team 1-0 that has lost the three finals of this tournament, in 2005, 2013 and 2023.
Mexico cThus, he achieved his ninth Gold Cup since the format of this Concacaf tournament was changed (it is the team with the most trophies) and regained the throne it had lost in 2021, when it fell in the final against the United States.
Lozano, what landed on the bench in June after the dismissal of Argentine coach Diego Cocca due to the failure of the League of Nations, thus closed a great resurrection of the Mexican team before almost 73,000 followers -with an overwhelming majority of the Tri- at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
“I am very happy, I feel very grateful for having this possibility. Today the atmosphere was totally World Cup, it was not a Gold Cup. It fills me with joy, enthusiasm, and illusion to be able to see a stadium like the one we saw today.” He said, very satisfied for having brought joy to Lozano’s Mexican fans.
“Today the team once again left life. We knew that we were playing to go down in the history of national football and the opportunities must be taken advantage of”, he indicated.
The coach acknowledged that he had to take over the reins of the national team at a delicate moment.
“But when you trust people, when you prepare and trust yourself, You have to throw yourself away because I think it was a great opportunity for us”he pointed out by being enormously grateful to his players and his coaching staff.

Lozano admitted that It would be “a dream” to be chosen to lead El Tri in the 2026 World Cup, that will be organized by Mexico, the United States and Canada, but he stressed that his only wish, whether he is on that bench or not, is that “Mexican soccer grows” and that everyone rows “in the same direction.”
“If it’s my turn (to be in the World Cup), it’s a dream, it’s a dream. Today was already a dream and, if I have to continue, I will continue sleeping. For me this is Mexico. You can win or lose but the ways have always been similar to what we saw today: trying to be the protagonists no matter who is in front, trying to represent the fans as well as possible. If you leave life in each play as they did and some results accompany you, I don’t know if the country will always be satisfied but happy with what you do on the field, ”he pointed out.
