Mexico is a country where organized crime prevails in many of its regions, and at the same time it faces the problem of insecurity caused by common crime. The inhabitants of the places are tired of these situations, but sometimes, to redeem themselves, members of organized crime appear as vigilantes, as happened in Jalisco, where hitmen from Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) beat and stripped two thieves.

It happened in the municipality of Tepatitlán de Morelos -one of the most devastated by drug violence-, in broad daylight, The events were captured on video and disseminated on social networks., where they raised controversy for various issues. One of them is that the cartel of the four letters can operate with total freedom without the authorities intervening.

The other is similar to anger at the authorities’ non-intervention, but is about the impunity enjoyed by criminals who rob or even injure or kill people. Some Internet users did applaud the action, but the fatigue of drug violence made the majority ask that the officials begin to act.

In the recording you can see two naked men -wearing only underpants- carrying cardboard on their chests, they walk down a street holding hands. Behind them are four men in tactical gear and ski masks carrying long weapons; one of them often beats them with a stick and also kicks them.

So far, the municipal authorities have not ruled on this fact that was documented on video by citizens.

It’s not the first time it’s happened

Last April, also in Jalisco, but in the municipality of Ocotlán, a similar event occurred, CJNG hitmen forced alleged thieves to parade.

“That happens to me for a rat,” the men shouted as they walked barefoot. On that occasion there were three thieves executed, two were tied up and a third in front of them carried a cardboard on which his crime was specified.

The display of criminals by CJNG hitmen took place in the streets surrounding the city hall, without any authority – municipal, state or federal – intervening. This fact was confirmed by the General Commissioner of Ocotlán, Jesús Chávez Ochoa, who explained that they did not intervene because they are a social proximity police and that they only reported to the National Guard and the Secretary of Public Security of the State so that they will send patrols and arrest to the members of the CJNG.
