Former Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty of a case of rape and another of attempted rape, the Chester (England) court ruled this Friday.
The French player, who burst into tears after learning of the decision, was also acquitted last January andIn this very courtroom in connection with six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
At that hearing, the jury did not reach a verdict on the two charges of rape and attempted rape, although today they found him not guilty on both.
Mendy, 28, was suspended by Manchester City in August 2021, when the cases came to light, and the footballer himself pleaded not guilty to the accusations in May 2022.
The trial against him and his friend Louis Saha (not related to the footballer of the same name) began on August 10, 2022.and both have been found not guilty on all charges brought by the prosecution.
During this judicial process, Mendy has declared that the accusations will haunt him “for life”, his life in football “is finished” and this situation has been “absolute hell”.
The accusations pointed out that Mendy was a “predator” who met the girls in Manchester nightclubs. before inviting them to private parties at his Cheshire mansion, where the assaults were allegedly taking place.
Some of the victims alleged that they were allegedly raped in one of the mansions that the Frenchman had and that he also had panic rooms where no sound came out and he locked them up without a telephone so that they would not escape.
“I felt his presence. I don’t know how, but I felt her presence. She was in shock. She just wanted to reach for a towel. I tried to push him away but he kept pushing me. He took off his boxers and had his penis close to me. He kept saying, ‘Don’t worry,’ explained one of the alleged victims.
Mendy was first arrested in November 2022 after allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman three times.
After being released under investigation, before being accused by a different woman of sexual assault, Three other women accused him of rape, including a 17-year-old.
Now the footballer could play again although he would not return to Manchester City, from which his record recently ended on July 1 of this year. Mendy is 28 years old so he could look for a team in France.
