Google Bard, the new Google AI language model, is now available in Spanish for all company users. This AI developed by the Internet search giant is its bet to be able to compete with other models such as ChatGPT.
Until now Google Bard was only available in Englishhowever, thanks to this update the language model now supports more than 40 languages. This is a hugely important step in Google’s efforts to make its AI attract as many users as possible.
“Starting today, you can collaborate with Bard in more than 40 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, and Spanish. Now you can also access Bard in more places, including Brazil and throughout Europe. As part of our bold and responsible approach to AI, we have proactively engaged with privacy experts, policymakers, and regulators on this expansion,” the company announced in a statement.
New functions
Google explained that the Bard update also brings new features and perhaps the most interesting of them is the fact that being able to hear the AI’s responses aloud.
This means that any response generated by the system can be reproduced via audio. In this way, users can listen to the correct pronunciation of said text in a matter of a few seconds.
“Now you can change the tone and style of Bard’s responses to five different options: simple, long, short, professional or informal,” they add.
How many users will benefit from the new language?
Google calculates that with this update more than 600 million people who speak Spanish as their mother tongue will be able to count on this new tool. This is a significant figure as it translates into approximately 8% of the world population.
They detail that Bard can be a valuable tool for students, researchers, professionals and anyone else who needs to access information and resources in Spanish.
They add that Bard has the potential to help people learn, create and communicate in new ways.. Its availability in Spanish is an important step in making Bard more accessible to a broader audience.
