The governor of Voronezh, Alezandr Gusev, reported this Sunday (06.25.2023) that the passage of the forces of the group of Wagner mercenaries through the region on their way back to their bases is coming to an end, after the head of the private army, Yevgueni Prigozhin, reached an agreement with the Moscow authorities to put an end to the uprising.

“The passage of the Wagner private Army units concludes through the territory of the Voronezh region,” the authority wrote on its Telegram channel. According to Gusev, the passage of the mercenaries, who approached 200 kilometers from Moscow this Saturday in the course of their mutiny, “is proceeding normally and without excesses.”

“After the definitive solution of this situation we will lift the limitations implemented“said the governor, who advanced measures to alleviate and compensate the damage. “I thank all Voronezh residents for their endurance, stoicism and good sense, and all law enforcement officers and entities involved for their coordinated work and professionalism,” he concluded.

Today sand, tomorrow asphalt

Likewise, the regions through which the mercenary columns advanced towards the Russian capital report the gradual restoration of traffic on the roads, blocked the day before with trucks or ditches. The press service of the Lipetsk governor reported that “traffic has been restored on all sections” of the highway.

“Where necessary, it was filled with sand and gravel.. Tomorrow they will restore the asphalt“said the local administration. In their attempt to stop the advance of the troops, various administrations destroyed roads or dug ditches.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin called the revolt a “treason” and it was only thanks to the mediation of his Belarusian counterpart, Alexandr Lukashenko, that an agreement was reached with Prigozhin that put an end to the uprising.
