After co-promoter Sampson Lewkowicz reported that he had sent an offer to Eddy Reynoso, David Benavídez revealed that Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez he was offered more than $45 million to take the fight and assured that they never received an answer from the Guadalajara team.

In an interview with Fight Hype, Benavídez expressed that the offer was backed by both Al Haymon and Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and for that reason he trusted that the long-awaited fight with Canelo Álvarez could take place. The Mexican Monster indicated that he does not understand the reasons why they did not answer and that they are already looking for other options.

“It was more than $45 million dollars. That was the money that Al Haymon and PBC were offering. I see a lot of people saying that you don’t make offers to the A side, but $45 million dollars is a world of money. People want to see that fight, the company was supporting me. That’s why I thought we could make the fight happen, but they went in another direction,” he said.

“I don’t want to say they’re afraid, but they didn’t even respond to the offer. It’s one thing for them to turn it down and wait another year to make the fight and make more money, but they didn’t even respond.. Imagine you have an offer on the table for $45 million and no one answers. I don’t know what else to say,” she noted.

Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is the undisputed super middleweight champion and has a record of 59 wins (39 by knockout) and two losses. For his part, David Benavídez, interim 168-pound champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), It has a record of 27 wins, 23 of them on the fast track and no setbacks.
