With the goal against Mexico, the attacker who played in the Netherlands considers that reaffirmed his decision to leave El Tri behind.

“Yes. I felt satisfied from the day I made the decision, not just for now, but very happy. The truth was that I never doubted my decision. Obviously to be here winning 3-0, like you said, reaffirms my decision and makes me happy”, Pepi acknowledged after the game.

Before the game, Ricardo Pepi dared to say that The United States has a higher quality squad than El Tri. The result proved the former MLS striker right.

“We have been working to one day be superior and day by day we are working to be the team that we are now, we want to continue winning (…) The 3-0 does not happen every day against Mexico, we are very happy with the result, “he added.

A pitched battle

What had been a hot game from the beginning It ended up being a pitched battle that began with the kick and expulsion of César Montes. Both teams put together multiple brawls during the match, but Pepi considers that they are just overflowing emotions that occur in this type of match.

“The truth are emotions that are passed in this type of matches like todayand as I said, we left with joy, to enjoy the game and these are emotions that pass. Obviously being Mexican-American, happiness really, obviously 3-0 feels better”, he concluded.
