Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries to practice journalism, since information workers are exposed to different attacks from both organized crime and the authorities. The most recent attack took place in Acapulco, Guerrero, and the victim was the journalist jose gonzalezfrom Opinion Ciudadana, who was attacked with bullets.

One of the most shocking of the event was that the journalist had to make a live broadcast to ask for helpBecause around him there were municipal police officers who did not help him, they just stared at him. “I am the Phoenix Warrior, I just got shot. The police are not helping me, they are letting me bleed to death. The mafia attacked me and they won’t help me. I am bleeding to death,” he noted.

He asked followers watching his broadcast to call for an ambulance, “I don’t want to bleed to death”he begged. “I love you mom, dad, brothers, children… if I bleed to death because nobody wants to help me, you know, it was the fault of the government that didn’t want to help me.”

The events occurred in broad daylight, when the communicator left his home by car, he received several bullets, which hit him in his arms, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash.

Claims to the government

José González recriminated the facts and mentioned that just one day before, on Wednesday June 14, he held a meeting with the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado, where he pointed out the supposed freedom of the press in the entity. He then urged President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) to look at how the press was being treated in Guerrero.

At the end of his live broadcast, it is observed that a policeman approaches him and tells him that the emergency services have already been called and that an ambulance is on the way. Before cutting the recording, he asked the government for protection measures, as he fears for his life..

The video was shared by different Mexican media outlets, which pointed out that journalists are exposed to violence and the authorities’ indifference to the attacks suffered.
