Julio Urías is close to making his return to the majors after going on the disabled list with a hamstring injury. The Mexican made his last appearance on May 18 against the St. Louis Cardinals when he was beaten with four home runs, three of them in a row.

The culichi entered the disabled list after his bad start and his return was expected for the series against the New York Yankeesbut he continued to feel discomfort and his bullpen sessions were delayed, so his stay off the team’s roster was extended.

Now this week he has done two bullpen sessions. Both were 2-inning sessions and manager Dave Roberts detailed that he could return on Sunday June 11 against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

This season, the last year of his contract, Urías has a record of 5 wins, 4 losses, a 4.39 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 55.1 innings pitched. The Mexican, who was the leader in effectiveness in 2022, has not been able to repeat his strength in 2023.

As for who Urías will replace on the roster, it could be pitcher Noah Syndergaard. “Thor”, as he is nicknamed”, has been one of the worst pitchers for the Dodgers and the Major Leagues.

The right-hander is 1-4 with a high 7.16 ERA in 12 starts this year and hasn’t been able to find a rhythm. For his part, one of those who has earned his position has been rookie Bobby Miller.

One of the Dodgers’ top prospects has pitched big in his first few starts. Miller has a 2 win-no-loss record with a superb 1.06 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.

He has also faced the Atlanta Braves (the team with the best record in the National League) and the New York Yankees with one of the best offenses in the Majors.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a record of 36 wins and 27 losses that places them in second place in the West Division 1.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Starting this Friday, they will begin a three-game series against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
