The Oviedo Police Department, in Florida, reported that A 24-year-old woman was arrested after she left two children alone in a car that caught fire. while robbing a store in a mall.

The woman identified as Alicia Moore, who was arrested on an unrelated warrant, She was charged with aggravated child abuse and arson.according to a police report.

Moore parked her car in the parking lot of a Dillard’s at the Oviedo Mall and left the children unsupervised inside her car. The woman was then observed inside the store with another man, where she began stealing items, according to police.

The two were observed by security for an hour, according to agents.

When Moore left the store an hour later, he realized that the vehicle was engulfed in flames, so he dropped the stolen merchandise before leaving the scene, according to the police report.

Fortunately, citizens who saw the vehicle engulfed in flames helped the children escape. In addition, they immediately informed the police and the fire brigade.

The children were rushed to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital for medical attention after suffering first-degree burns from the fire.according to the authorities.

The vehicle was totaled in the incident, according to police.

While the woman was in police custody, charges of child neglect and arson were added.

The woman faces a $15,000 bond on the child neglect charge.

Police said they don’t know how the fire started, but blamed Moore and said he was “negligent,” according to the police report.
