The Boston Celtics team defeated Jimmy Butler’s Miami Heat 110-97 and keeps hopes alive for the Boston team to seek to lift for the first time in NBA history a 0-3.
Boston made their home at TD Garden respected and took Game 5, but Butler said Game 6 will be for Miami at Kaseya Arena and advance to the finals against the Denver Nuggets.
“We can and we will win this series. We have to play better. Start the games better, with the starters, make it more difficult for them. They have been at a good pace since the beginning of the game”, said the shooting guard at a press conference.
In the preceding 150 league history, no franchise has advanced after going 0-3 in a playoff series.
The sixth game will be played on Saturday in Miami. Butler, who this Thursday stayed at only 14 points, argued that the last two duels are not a good portrait of these Heat.
“The last two games are not what we are. It just happened like that. But this is easily correctable. You just have to go out there and play harder from the initial jump”, he commented.
Derrick White was the leading scorer with 24 points and a tremendous six of eight on three-pointers. Marcus Smart contributed 23 points, with four triples, Jayson Tatum contributed 21 points, eight rebounds and eleven assists and Jaylen Brown chipped in with 21.
In the Heat, who still cannot count on Tyler Herro due to a broken hand and who could not line up Gabe Vincent foror a sprained ankle, Jimmy Butler did not go beyond fourteen points and Bam Adebayo scored 16. Erik Spoelstra’s team had a good contribution from their bench, with 18 points from Duncan Robinson, 15 from Haywood Highsmith and 14 from Caleb Martin, but he never had an advantage in the duel.
Boston is the 15th team in history to reach Game 6 after trailing 0-3 and now they are on a mission to become the fourth 150 team to reach a deciding seventh which would be at home.
The Celtics team could be the first team to win Game 6 and tie a series 3-3, after being down by three games, as a visitor. Previous teams did it at home.
The game will be on Saturday, May 27 at 8:30 pm at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
