Netflix: how the new shared account system will work

Julian Castillo

Netflix recently announced that as of May 23 it will implement a new system of additional fees for those users who share their password with people outside their household. This measure is intended to ensure that each Netflix account is used only by the members of the household for which it was created.

Those users who wish to add an additional member to their contracted packages, either standard or premium, will be required to pay an additional fee of $7.99 per month. This fee is in addition to the regular cost of the membership and will allow users to share the account with an additional person.

The company has clarified that a Netflix account is intended for the exclusive use of a single household, and everyone in that household can enjoy Netflix content both at home and on the go, including while traveling or on vacation. With new features like “Transfer Profile” and “Manage Access and Devices”, users can access their personalized profiles on any compatible device.

It is important to note that this system of additional fees is not a new measure for Netflix. The platform had already been testing this approach in other countries, and is now being rolled out globally. However, many users have expressed their dissatisfaction with having to pay an additional amount to share their account with an additional person.

“A Netflix account is for use by a single household. Everyone in that household can use Netflix wherever they are (at home, while traveling, on vacation) and take advantage of new features such as Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices. made clear their position regarding the proper use of accounts and the importance of maintaining the integrity of their fee system.

As streaming continues to gain popularity and more people subscribe to services like Netflix, it is understandable that the platform will take steps toTo ensure that the revenue generated is fair and reflects the actual use of its services. Although some users may be disappointed by the additional cost, Netflix seeks to balance the satisfaction of its subscribers and maintain the quality of its ever-expanding content.
