The new process of the Mexican National Team with Diego Cocca in the technical direction began in 2023 with a balance of one victory and one draw in the two clashes that they played in the Concacaf Nations League.

In the last match against Jamaica, El Tri was not dominant and gave away two important points that, although they did not lose the classification in the ‘Final Four’.

For their part, the Mexican fans do not forgive their own and in a demanding tone complained about the “terrible” level shown, especially in the match against Jamaica that represented the return of the National Team to the Azteca Stadium. With gif-style memes and videos, the fans issued their verdict for what was seen on Sunday, March 26.

Coach Diego Cocca, who has high expectations after the failure of Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino at the helm of the Mexican National Team, was the target of criticism and ridicule.

The main accusation against the Argentine strategist was his decision to take Raúl Jiménez onto the pitch for the scorer Henry Martín, having the sensation Santiago Giménez on the bench, who has been adding good statistics in Europe.

Who is Mexico’s next opponent?

With the tie against Jamaica, the expectation is growing to know who will be El Tri’s next opponent in the Concacaf Nations League, however, the most immediate challenge of Cocca’s process will be on April 19 when he travels to Phoenix to face the United States .

Regarding the Nations League, much remains to be defined. The Final Four format is defined as follows: The best classified of the four groups is measured against the last classified (1 vs. 4) and the second with the third (2 vs. 3). The last date of groups B, C and D is defined this Monday.

Mexico, already classified, closed with 8 points after the victory against Suriname and the draw against Jamaica, being first in Group A.
