The Mexican Alegna González qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The Mexican athlete Alegna González became the second Mexican to get her place in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. González participated in the 20 km March in Dudinska 50 that were held in Dudince, Slovakia.

The Mexican athlete, who was also at Tokyo 2020, he posted a time of 1:28:09 mark which is below the Olympic requirement needed to qualify.

The Chihuahuan, originally from Ojinaga, made her debut at Tokyo 2020 and was 37 seconds away from obtaining an Olympic medal during her first participation.

In addition, with this record he also qualified for the Budapest Athletics World Championship to be held in 2023. With this classification, he joins Sofía Ramos, who was on the podium in the same event.

The walker got the bronze medal in the same test as her compatriot, reaching the finish line with a time of 1:34:22, only behind the Panamanian Rachell de Orbeta, who got second place.

For his part, in the men’s branch, a Mexican was among the first three places in the 35-kilometer event. This was the Mexican athlete José Luis Doctor, who reached the finish line with a time of 2:26:37, obtaining the mark for this year’s World Cup commitment.

Noel Chamal took the bronze medal in the 20 kilometer event with a time of 1:20:46.

The Mexican sub-20 team won first, second and third place in the 20-kilometre event. Ximena Serrano, Maria Santiago and Renata Cortes, They were the youth marchers who obtained gold, silver and bronze. Meanwhile, Ángel Monte obtained bronze in the same event.

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be held between July 26 and Sunday, August 11 of next year. In this edition, more than 40 disciplines will be held over 2 weeks.
