A child was injured this Saturday night by a stray bullet that was fired during an altercation between several subjects who were arguing near a business in Long Beach, authorities reported this Sunday.
According to reports from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), the gunshot wound did not endanger the life of the minor.
The authorities said that officers were dispatched at approximately 8:40 p.m. to the 400 block of East Shoreline Drive after receiving reports of youth riots.
Apparently, a large group of young people dispersed at the moment when several firearm detonations were heard in the area.
Police reported that the injured minor told them that He was walking outside a business when he noticed four men having a physical altercation.
“As the victim walked further away from the altercation, he heard suspected gunshots coming from the area where the altercation occurred and realized that he had been struck by gunfire,” the LBPD said.
Emergency services came to the scene to attend to the injured minor and He was taken by paramedics to a hospital with a lower body injury.
It was not reported if the child remained hospitalized or if he had been discharged after medical attention.
The Long Beach Police Department stated that the motive for the shooting and information about the person responsible for the shooting were not immediately known.
Despite several shots being fired, no further injuries were reported.
