Reinaldo Oliveros

Los Angeles Galaxy have not had a good start to the 2023 MLS season with injuries and a lack of wins. This Saturday, March 18, they tied 1-1 at home against the Vancouver Whitecaps and they still haven’t added a victory this year.

The Canadian team was the one that opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the game after a free kick and a cross into the area, Tristan Blackmon headed only to nail it in the angle and put the Canadians up.

The Galaxy team was able to equalize two minutes later, but the Japanese goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka he made a great save to maintain the Vancouver team’s lead. In the 29th minute, Riqui Puig had scored a great goal from Joveljic’s pass that was canceled due to an offside position.

At the end of the first half, the Angelenos tied with a goal from Kelvin Leerdam, who took advantage of a rebound from the goalie at the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Galaxy had better chances of danger, but they couldn’t seal the game with a goal.. The most dangerous play in the last half when Jovelijc had a goal disallowed after a supposed handball from the striker who is playing for Javier Chicharito Hernández.

Kelvin Leerdam scored for the Angelenos, still without the injured Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández, while for the Canadians Tristan Blackmon scored with a great header.

With this draw, Galaxy has 2 points in 3 rounds with two draws and one loss. The loss was against Dallas 4-1and the ties were against Sporting Kansas City without goals and this against Vancouver Whitecaps.

LA Galaxy will go as a visitor next week against the Portland Timbers who have 3 points in 4 gamess. The Galaxy are in the penultimate position of the Western Conference and have felt the lack of Chicharito Hernández after the victory drought.
