Suffering a kidnapping in your own home is a dramatic situation that unfortunately can occur in Mexico, since violence is a terrible constant. Some states have higher rates and no one is safe there, as evidenced by the kidnapping of the US citizen María del Carmen Lópezwho was deprived of her liberty in her own home in the state of Colima.

Although the news was barely released, the woman’s kidnapping occurred on February 9. For this fact the FBI issued a search file and has an open investigation in Mexicoin which the Colima State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the Republic’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) collaborate.

Once the news was spread in the media, information about the events began to flow. The journalist Azucena Uresti conducted interviews with the children of María del Carmen, as well as with Colima authorities, who recounted how the kidnapping occurred, as well as the events leading up to it.

Bryant Alejandro García, attorney general of Colima, announced that Before being kidnapped, the Mexican-born US citizen did receive extortion calls on several occasions. He did not specify their content because they are part of the ongoing investigation.

However, he indicated that the kidnappers were probably already targeting the woman, since on the day of the kidnapping María del Carmen was with her sister, but they did not take her.

Hooded men took her away

Zonia López, daughter of the victim, revealed to the journalist that some hooded men broke into her mother’s house, they covered her mouth, threw her to the ground and took her away. The neighbors heard everything, they narrated what happened, that’s how they knew that there were two subjects who plagiarized her, but out of fear people have not wanted to testify, so there is no progress in the investigation.

The FBI informed them that no ransom call has been made. Therefore, through the radio she asked the alleged kidnappers of her mother to return her safely, since “she does not deserve this. We as her family miss her. We need her with us now.”

In an interview with Carlos Zúñiga for Milenio Televisión, Zonia López and Tony López, her brother, announced that they had started a campaign to find data on the kidnapping, they also said that they were the ones who requested the collaboration of the United States authorities to clarify what happened. happened and find his mother.
