A group of Hispanics from Los Angeles, California, denounced that the work company Kamran Staffing He has paid them bad checks not only once, but more than five times since Thanksgiving 2022.
Tired of the situation they are facing and the lack of response from their employer, the workers denounced before the Univision cameras that They don’t know who to turn to for them to listen.
At least 20 employees crowded outside one of the offices of the La Puente-based agency, an area in eastern Los Angeles County, to demand payment for their work “We are here demanding that they pay us our money.”
An employee who was identified as Angélica Bautista revealed to the aforementioned medium that all “check problems started since Thanksgiving” and although he first believed that it was a mistake, the case was repeated more than five times. He also indicated that the agency is taking longer and longer to pay you.
Another of those affected, Alberto Castellanos, also said he was part of the almost 20 employees who have at least five checks returned for non-sufficient funds “No deposits in payments, no response for checks.”
Meanwhile, Casilda Castro pointed out that Kamran Staffing has simply stopped taking her calls “(the) company no longer responds, nor do they open the doors. They have left us alone.”
Although the complaint was made before a television station, they have also done the same before the authorities of the West Covina Department of Labor where those affected were interviewed by a commissioner of the department and their case was put under investigation, however, they did not receive information on the procedures to follow to recover their money.
Following the instructions, Univision contacted Kamran Staffing who assured them that the case has not been forgotten and that most of the workers who received a bad check have already received their payment and that all those affected will also receive it.
While only La Puente employees are known so far to have been the victims of a “ghost” payment, they believe there may be much more at Kamran Staffing’s nine other locations: Carsom, Industry, Corona/Riverside, Los Angeles, Commerce, Moreno Valley, Norwalk, Ontario and Rialto.
