Carlos Caro Quintero had already been arrested in Jalisco for carrying a firearm, but he regained his freedom months later, while in 2022 he was captured in Durango for creating a scandal on public roads, however, his name was not related to the drug trafficking

despite thisthe Mexico City police detained him aboard a luxury Mercedes Benz van, carrying a short weapon, four magazines and 33 useful cartridges. In addition, eight kilograms of marijuana and 124 doses of cocaine were seized from him, for which reason experts in the field described his presence in CDMX as a sign of the meddling of the Sinaloa Cartel in the country’s capital.

Until before the arrest, Rafael’s only brother known to be involved in criminal activity was Miguel Ángel Caro Quintero, who was arrested in Mexico in 2001 and extradited to the United States in 2009 where he pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and provided information on the Sonora Cartel.

After serving a 17-year prison sentence in the United States, Miguel Ángel was released and returned to Mexico.
