It seems that the US authorities are a real punishment for the Mexican drug traffickers, because while Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman seeks repatriation to Mexico, another drug lord was trying to secure his early release.

Is about Benjamin Arellano Felixformer leader of Tijuana Cartel and who for years was a staunch enemy of Chapo. In 2022, he asked the US authorities to reduce his 25-year sentence, and now he received bad news from a federal judge.

And it is that the magistrate Larry Allan Burnsof the Federal Court of the Southern District of California, denied the release and justified this decision in the crimes committed by the capo.

“Arellano deserves the severe punishment imposed by the Court”the judge said, recalling that one of the two federal charges Arellano pleaded guilty to alleged that he personally directed the murder of 10 people between 1992 and 1997.

But that’s not all, as he also assured that in previous years he would have sentenced the criminal leader to life in prison if his plea agreement had not limited the sentence to 25 years, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.

“As the organization’s leader for more than two decades, Arellano oversaw a vast and lucrative drug organization whose members engaged in torture, kidnapping and murder. His leadership was ruthless, vicious and inhumane.”, added the judge in a 14-page brief.

With this decision, the Sinaloan drug trafficker must serve the rest of his sentence at the USP Lee prison in Jonesville, Virginia, which ends until April 28, 2033.

Benjamín Arellano Félix was captured in 2002 in the state of Puebla. Later, in 2011, he was extradited to the United Statesa country that sentenced him to 25 years in prison for the crimes of drug trafficking and homicide.
