Operation against human trafficking in California leaves more than 360 detainees and rescues another 100

Through Operation Recovery and Rebuild 2023, various California anti-trafficking law enforcement agencies they managed to arrest 368 suspects and rescue more than 100 victims.

The operation took place from January 22 to 28 in nine counties, including Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Chief Michel Moore said at a press conference.

LAPD said its officers and detectives participated in a coordinated, multi-agency effort to target predators who exploit women and children for sex work.

throughout the state, Police reported 368 arrests during the week-long operation, dubbed “Recovery and Reconstruction,” and a total of 131 women and children removed from the farm.

“The ages of the victims in this operation were found to be between 13 and 52 years old, six of them minors,” Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said during a public announcement of the operation at the Academy of Los Angeles Police in Elysian Park.

More than 80 law enforcement agencies and advocacy groups for victims of sex trafficking allied to carry out the operation focused on the rescue of “sexually exploited victims and the arrest of their exploiters,” Moore stressed.

As part of the operation, the investigators responded to several advertisements offering sexual services. and went to massage parlors where people were suspected of being involved in sex trafficking.
