The Coast Guard announced the discovery of the body of an Indiana resident who, after falling from a 70-foot cliff in Puerto Rico, was dragged by the tide into an underwater cave. near Cabo Rojo.

Last Sunday, Edgar Garay was on a day trip up the southwest coast when he was last seen alive while recording video at around 5:37 p.m. near the edge of the cliff.

In this regard, Carlos Garay, the 27-year-old brother of the subject, said in an interview with the WTHR television network that Edgar had already been repeatedly warned by one of his cousins ​​not to get too close to the edge while recording a TikTok video. However, it seems that he ignored the recommendation with fatal consequences.

“My brother has a TikTok account that he loved to upload videos to. Unfortunately, that was what he was trying to do when he stayed closer to the edge than he should have been,” he stated.

After several hours passed without hearing from Edgar Garay, several locals began to search for him in the area and when they did not find him, they assumed that he had fallen from the cliff, so the authorities’ support was requested.

In a more detailed search, an airplane was used to fly over the coastline and a Jayhawk helicopter to comb the nearby corners from the air. However, nothing was detected.

It was then that it was decided to go to the bottom of the sea by means of a group of expert divers who inspected the interior of an underwater cave and the body of the missing person was stuck there.

In this sense, José E. Díaz, captain of the Coast Guard, issued a statement through which he expressed his solidarity with the relatives of the deceased.

“We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Edgar Garay. We pray that they find closure and strength during this difficult time,” the letter states.
