Apple executives believe that Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality glasses that the company will launch soon could become the new flagship product of the brand leaving iPhones aside.

The information described by the journalist and renowned insider, Mark Gurman, points out that from Apple there are high expectations regarding the success that the sales of VR/AR glasses could generate. This represents weighty news since it must be remembered that the sale of iPhones represents the bulk of the company’s income, as was demonstrated in 2022 when it reached $205 billion dollars.

“Within Apple, some of the senior managers in charge of launching its new mixed reality headsets believe that the category could ultimately supplant the iPhone as the company’s flagship product,” Gurman said.

The expert says that this vision is maintained despite the fact that As far as is known, the glasses will have a price in the order of $3,000 dollars per device.which makes it an item that will not be available to the general public.

Regarding the virtual reality glasses, Gurman explained that they will arrive this year and will also represent a significant technological leap. He pointed out that proof of this is that they will have screens with 4K support and flexible OLED technology. likewise, also They will have at least a dozen cameras that will monitor the movements carried out by users.

“Without a doubt, it will be a marvel and much more advanced than anything else on the market. But it will also be impractical and too expensive for most consumers. This is because it will only last about two hours per charge, it won’t work well outdoors, it will launch with a limited variety of content, and it will feature a design that some have found awkward,” he described.

The expert revealed that Apple plans to produce 1 million units of its new VR-RA glasses during the first year.. This figure represents only a fraction of Apple’s annual phone sales, so Gurman argues that at least in the short term it is practically impossible for the company to achieve its goal of supplanting the iPhone with virtual reality glasses.
