Diego Lainez arrived in Monterrey to seal his pass to Tigres de la UANL: “It is an opportunity, a very nice challenge”

Diego Lainez resolved his future after a bad time at Sporting Braga and now he has arrived in Monterrey to finalize his move to Tigres de la UANL and return to Liga MX. The 22-year-old Mexican player will play with the Tigres, his second team in Mexican soccer after he was with América in 2019.

“It is an opportunity, a very nice challenge, important for me, I am going to face it in the best way as I have always done in my career”he said upon his arrival at the Monterrey International Airport.

Lainez will arrive as the third reinforcement of the cats for the Closing Tournament 2023 after Fernando Gorriarán and Nicolás Ibáñez joined. Both have already debuted with the team so Lainez could do it on the next date.

“The Tigres project is interesting, they have always shown interest from Mauricio Culebro, I have known him for a long time, there has always been interest since I practically went to Europe and I am very happy ”, he added.

The 22-year-old Mexican will be on loan with an option to buy. This Sunday you will do the medical tests and on Monday he will carry out the physical tests at the UANL Sports Organization Faculty.

Tigres drew goalless against Atlético San Luis and is in second place in the Liga MX with 8 points behind Rayados de Monterrey. The cats add two consecutive draws against San Luis and Tijuana, and now they hope to add victories with the new reinforcements of the Monterrey team.

Lainez will play again in Mexican Soccer after playing 51 games with 5 goals and 3 assists. With the Águilas del América he won the 2019 Apertura Tournament, the last tournament for the Azulcrema team.
