RowVaughn Wells, mother of Tyre Nicholsoffered a moving interview in which he collapsed when he found out through the videos of the brutal beating that her son called her three times while being brutally beaten by five Memphis Department officers.

“Yes, I cry for my son, because I am his mother. He was pulling to get home to a safe place. He was a mama’s boy. He loved me to death. He has my name tattooed on his arm, ”Mrs. Wells told CNN in an interview with great dismay.

He also recounted that paradoxically, he felt a pain in his stomach when his son was beaten for no reason “I told my husband that my stomach hurt a lot and once I found out what happened (the pain) it was just the fact that he is feeling the pain of my son while he was being beaten to death. They shamed their own families. They brought shame to the black community.”.

Despite the pain that lives at this moment, Mrs. Wells does not hold hatred or grudges for anyone “I do not hate anybody. That’s not in nature, I just feel sorry for them because they did something horrible.”

This is how Tire Nichols was arrested

According to official reports, police pulled over Tire Nichols in Memphis allegedly on suspicion of reckless driving. The officers pulled him out of the car and began a struggle. and the 29-year-old victim escaped from the place (according to his mother, he did it because he was afraid and wanted to get to a safe place, his house), however, the police caught up with him, hit and kicked him several times.

“They hit my son like a piñata. My son had Crohn’s disease, he had surgery in 2013,” Tire Nichols’ mother said.

Biden said he was “outraged” after seeing the videos

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, says that the beating of Tire Nichols by the Memphis police force is nothing more than a reminder of the “deep fear and trauma that black and brown Americans experience every day“.

The Nichols family and President Biden have asked society peaceful mobilizations without falling into violence. “As Americans mourn his death, the Justice Department conducts its investigation, and state authorities continue their work, I join the Tire family in calling for peaceful protest. The outrage is understandable, but violence is never acceptable,” the president said.

The Department of Justice conducts its investigation launched a separate civil rights investigation about Nichols’ death, while state authorities filed murder charges against the five officers who have since been fired from the force.

According to the authorities Tire Nichols died of injuries sustained while fleeing a traffic stop three days earlier. As a result of the events, five Memphis Department agents who were present during the arrest (all of them African-American) were removed from their positions and charged with crimes related to injuries, including manslaughter.
