The Tierra Caliente region of Guerrero continues to be a place where crime acts with impunity and violence is the order of the day. It is in that area where the disappearance of eight self-defense groups and a driver was recorded, adding to the list of disappeared that plagues Mexico, according to the Community Police of the municipality of Tlacotepec, and the Adrián Castrejón Apaxtlense Movement (MAAC).
The victims were arrested on January 21, in Apaxtla de Castrejón, after an operation implemented in the area, accused of the crime of retention of individuals and disobedience. They are: Jorge Torres Ríos, Juan Torres Rojas, Bernabé Aguilar Lagunas, Jorge Hernández Nava, Carlos Hernández Santiago, Carlos Mosso Barragán, Emilio Hurtado González and Esteban Silva Delgado, in addition to the driver Julio César Reyna Díaz.
They were heading to Michoacán, as they sought to leave the zone of influence of The Michoacan Family and his adversaries from the Tecampanera Police of Teloloapan, when they were intercepted by the State Police who arrested them.
The foregoing was made known by both self-defense groups that operate in the Sierra and northern region of Guerrero, in a statement addressed to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as to Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda.

They denounce torture and excessive use of force
They affirmed that excessive force was used during the detention and denounced that they beat women and civilians who protected their community police officers in the face of a brutal onslaught by state police officers, which violated all the human rights of the people who were there.
In the letter, the complainants said that the detainees did not carry weapons, something contrary to the version given by the authoritiessince the Secretary of Public Security published a statement in this regard, in which it reported that the eight detainees were taken to the municipality of San Lucas, in Michoacán, at the request of the lawyer for the self-defense groups, after being released.
The complainant groups announced that the elements were tortured in the facilities of the State Attorney General’s Office, since they have medical certificates. “We wait a prudent time for our elements to appear, otherwise we will initiate actions to find them and bring those responsible to community justice,” they concluded.
