Colombian striker Emerson Rodríguez, from the MLS club Inter Miami CF, has been loaned to Club Santos Laguna of Liga MX until the end of 2023, the South Florida (USA) soccer club reported this Friday.
Santos Laguna, currently second in the Mexican league, will have a purchase option on the 22-year-old winger once the loan deal is finalized.
Rodríguez arrived at the institution that has former English soccer player David Beckham among its owners in January of last year and since then has played 22 games in Major League Soccer (MLS). and scored two goals.
Similarly, he was called up for three matches of the Inter Miami CF II affiliate in the MLS NEXT Pro leaguewhere he scored three times.
Rodríguez came to Inter Miami from the Millonarios de Colombia club. With Millonarios de Colombia he had his best participation in which he scored 8 goals in 56 games.
“I think I come here with that same ambition to want to achieve things and it’s going to be a very close group. I can contribute a lot to the team, I’ve seen some games and I have seen things that I can help on the right wing or where the teacher considers it to be, ”said Rodríguez in his presentation with Club Santos.
Santos Laguna marches in the second position of the Clausura 2023 Tournament behind Tigres UANL with 7 points in four dates. The Santos club has three consecutive games without losing and got a 2-2 draw against Atlas on the last date.
His next game will be on February 4 against the Águilas del América in what will probably be Emerson Rodríguez’s debut at the club.. Until now, the only defeat for Santos was against Tigres on the first date of the tournament.
