HOUSTON – A 14-year-old and a 16-year-old are in police custody for the murder of a young man whom they allegedly tried to rob last weekend, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported this Friday. The sheriff did not name the suspects, but said they both face capital murder charges.

Those arrested also face additional charges for another similar robbery attempt that occurred on January 16, a few days before the murder of Christopher Aguilar.

Aguilar, 18, was shot to death on Lucky Star Street this past Saturday morning. Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the deadly incident occurred from an attempted robbery.

Two people approached the victim and demanded that he hand over his money and then shot him. Aguilar was sitting in his SUV and tried to get away, but it lost control and crashed into a house near the store.

Aguilar’s family were waiting for him to return home after dropping off one of his nieces at a McDonald’s.

Arrest update: two juveniles (ages 14 & 16) are in custody for the shooting death of Christopher Aguilar (18). Capital Murder charges have been filed on both. Additional charges have been filed on both for a similar robbery that occurred on 1/16 in the same area.

Unfortunately for the Aguilar family, they know this type of pain too well, 12 years ago, Christopher’s mother was murdered in southwest Houston, a case that has not been resolved.

The family has created a GoFundMe account for Christopher’s funeral costs.
