Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, 82, decided to put up for sale the mansion he owns in an unbeatable location in New York City, but which it is said he would have abandoned several years ago because it was ‘haunted’.

The property, which was built between 1899 and 1901 by the firm Welch, Smith, and Provot on the Upper East Side, was brought to market by $80 million dollarsan amount that only the richest men in the world can afford to pay.

This is the second time that the richest man in Mexico has tried to sell the eight-story property, the previous one was in 2015 and he did it for exactly the same price.

The historic residence, which is also known as Benjamin N. Duke House In honor of its first owner, it is in the Beaux Arts architectural style and passed into the hands of Slim in 2010 for the amount of $44 million dollars.

The Lebanese-born billionaire is said to have bought the 20,000-square-foot property because he wanted to have a fixed place for when he had to travel to the Big Apple to do some business.

The residence, which is located a few steps from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park, has a total of 25 rooms, including eight bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms. lobby, kitchen, dining room, living room, main room, TV room, library, laundry room, balconies, elevator, basement, among other rooms.

Why is it said that Carlos Slim’s mansion is haunted?

According to Tiktoker Carlos Name, the hundred-year-old property records events inside that would not have a logical explanation.

“The house that Carlos Slim abandoned in New York is rumored not to be used due to its strong paranormal activity. One night the butler heard loud noises and when he went down he saw the carpet, which covered the entire floor, rolled up and his furniture destroyed, ”the influencer shared in a video.
