Violence in Michoacán does not stop, on the contrary, it is reported that a new criminal group emerged in the Mexican state, adding to the existing ones that devastate the population. It was precisely the recently created one that ambushed a patrol that was driving along a highway, killing three policemen who were traveling on it.
The events occurred in the municipality of Chilchota, the victims of the attack were members of the Municipal Police. According to local media, the uniformed men tried to repel the attack, but were outnumbered by the hitmen, so they fell in the line of duty. The victims were identified as Cecilia Villa, Edgar Isidro Martínez and Pedro Sosa.
As reported, The policemen carried out a security patrol in the area of the hill in Chilchota when they were surprised by the hitmen, and although they managed to call for reinforcements, nothing could be done to save the lives of those attacked. Federal and state forces deployed a search and capture operation for those responsible for this criminal act.
According to the newspaper La Jornada, municipal authorities maintained that a new local criminal group emerged in this area that connects Tangancícuaro with Zacapu, although there is organized crime in the entire region that includes the municipalities of Jacona and Zamora.
More violence in the entity
A violent weekend was lived in Michoacán. The first event was also an ambush in the municipality of Coalcomán, but on that occasion the objective was a unit of the Mexican Army that was also carrying out security patrols. The armed attack was perpetrated by a criminal cell linked to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).
In that attack, the Colonel of the Infantry, Graduate of the General Staff, Héctor Miguel Vargas Carrillo, was assassinated. According to official information, the military high command died after being run over by a truck with handmade armor that was driven by the aggressors. In addition, six more military elements were seriously injured.
In Morelia, former congressman José Manuel Romero Navarro was assassinated with several shots, near his home, when he was traveling in his car. He revealed that the man was also director of fairs and exhibitions between 2012 and 2014.
Jungapeo was another of the municipalities that registered violent acts. An armed command broke into a clandestine palenque and began shooting at the attendees. The balance was one person dead and three wounded.
