This Monday it was revealed that Florian Thauvin will no longer be a Tigres UANL player. Through a statement, the university institution announced the end of the employment relationship and thanked the footballer for the services provided during the year and a half that he defended the royal colors.
“Club Tigres informs that the decision has been made to terminate the employment relationship with the player, Florian Tristán Mariano Thauvin. We thank Florian for the effort and professionalism shown throughout the year and a half in which he served with us and we wish him all the success in his future projects”, reads the letter.
With this decision, the departure of the French player leaves the position of untrained player in Mexico enabled again, which will be occupied by the brand new signing Nicolás Ibáñez, presented with the cats a week ago. The presence of the Frenchman in the squad made it impossible for the Argentine to register, which is why he has not been able to debut in Liga MX with his new club and under the orders of Diego Cocca.
Thauvin arrived at Tigres from Olympique de Marseille and with the label of world champion after winning the 2018 World Cup in Russia with France. With the cats he played a total of 2,064 minutes spread over 38 games and with an individual record of eight goals and five assists.
During the year and a half that he was there, his first tournament with Tigres was an adaptation one, since he only scored two goals in 425 minutes that were divided into 10 commitments. However, his best season came in 2022 for the Clausura.
The striker was able to explode and be a regular figure under the orders of Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera, leaving some quality individual statistics. He played 18 games in which he added 1,159 minutes and scored three goals. For the Opening Tournament of that same year, he managed to match his numbers, but his participation decreased with only 452 minutes in 10 games.
