Rogelio Funes Mori above André Pierre Gignac: This is how the table of scorers of the Closing Tournament of Liga MX goes

Reinaldo Oliveros

Rogelio Funes Mori, striker for Rayados de Monterrey, is the leader of the scoring table after three dates of the Liga MX Closing Tournament. Funes Mori, who started the tournament being booed by the fans after a lousy World Cup, now commands the scoring table.

Funes Mori did not score on the first day and was whistled in the loss against Chivas de Guadalajara. But then he scored against Cruz Azul in the 2-1 victory and comes from scoring a hat-trick against San Luis in the 3-1 victory to put Monterrey in third position in the Liga MX table.

With this, the Mexican striker reached 4 goals in 3 days and leads the scoring table above Frenchman André Pierre Gignac and Dinenno de las Pumas UNAM, both with three goals.

Tigres tied 1-1 against Tijuana with a goal from Gignac. The French forward has scored in the three days of the tournament. His first goal was against Santos Laguna in the debut, then against Pachuca and he converted the draw against the Xolos de Tijuana on the third date.

Tigres reached two wins, one draw and seven points, one more than Pachuca, 4-1 winner of Juárez FC, Monterrey, 3-1 winner against San Luis, Pumas, who thrashed León 4-1, and Santos Laguna, winner 1-2 at Mazatlán’s home.

Juan Dinneno also has three goals. He scored from a penalty in the Pumas’ 2-1 victory over Juárez on the first day and a double this Sunday in the felines’ 4-1 win over León.

In other results of the day, this Sunday the Colombian Julián Quiñones scored a goal and provided an assist to lead Atlas in their 3-3 draw at the home of Querétaro and on Saturday, Necaxa defeated Cruz Azul 1-0 with a goal by Spanish Edgar Méndez and Toluca beat Chivas de Guadalajara 1-2 led by Serbian-Spanish coach Veljko Paunovic.
