HOUSTON – Family and friends of Anggy Diaz, the woman who was brutally murdered by her husband on January 11 in the Waller County area, showed up Sunday to say their final goodbyes during an emotional funeral service.

Anggy’s celebration of life was held at Magnolia’s First Baptist Church. Magnolia is located 25 miles northeast of downtown Houston.

The people present honored Anggy with music, prayers and anecdotes told by some of the people closest to her.

Fmailiares remembered her as a person full of hope and regretted that her life was taken away before fulfilling her dreams. Everyone who spoke admitted that they still can’t come to terms with her death.

A pastor during the ceremony said that Anggy did not deserve to die that way.

“My girl is unique, she is special, she was a strong girl, a girl who was always happy.”

This is how her mother remembers 21-year-old Anggy Díaz who was murdered by her partner in the United States with whom she had been married for 3 months.

Díaz was found decapitated inside the residence she shared with her husband, Jared James Discus, who is charged with the murder.

According to the Waller County sheriff, Discus confessed to the crime after waiting for officers outside the residence where Anggy’s body was found.

One of Anggy’s aunts recounted that her niece was an angel sent by God who touched everyone she met with her contagious smile and joy.

Anggy’s death was tragic but family members said during the service that hate had no place in their hearts.

Anggy’s remains will be transferred to Nicaragua, the place where she was born and where more relatives await her, including an aunt whom Anggy considered a second mother and for whom Anggy was working two shifts to help with the expenses of her cancer treatment.
