Man Who Stepped On Nancy Pelosi's Desk In Riot On Capitol Hill Found Guilty

Richard “Bigo” Barnett, an Arkansas man who during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021 placed his foot on the desk of then-Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosiwas found guilty of 8 counts.

The 62-year-old man is accused, among other charges, of obstructing the proceedings of Congress on the day of the storming of the Capitol and his sentence will be pronounced on May 3, in which he could reach a sentence of 20 years in prison.

A federal jury in Washington also found “Bigo” Barnett guilty of stealing an envelope from Nancy Pelosi’s office. and for disorderly conduct at the Capitol on January 6 while carrying a “dangerous weapon,” in his case a “Hike ‘N Strike” hiking stick, which can also be used as a stun weapon.

In addition to Barnett, who said he will appeal the ruling, three Oath Keepers members were also found guilty. (Keepers of the Oath) and another person associated with that far-right organization.

So far, more than 950 people, supporters of former President Donald Trump, have been arrested by the break-in at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 and 192 have received jail terms either in trials or by plea bargains, according to data from the US Department of Justice.
