The City of Monterey Park announced that it will offer mental health help to people affected by the mass shooting on Saturday night that killed at least 11 people and injured 9 others.
Local officials reported that a resource site for survivors at Monterey Park’s Langley Senior Center, located at 400 N. Emerson Avenue.
“The unimaginable happened in our community and the City joins the community in expressing our shock and sadness regarding this horrible tragedy. We are united as we mourn, and our thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends during this difficult time,” said City of Monterey Park Mayor Henry Lo.
“We understand that our community is looking for answers. The safety of our residents is our priority and we remain committed to providing information as this investigation unfolds,” added the mayor.

According to the Monterey Park website, Mental health care resources are available to those affected by the incident.
After the shooting that already left 11 dead and 9 people injured on Monday, on Saturday night in a dance hall where the Lunar New Year was celebrated, the city authorities enabled the Langley community center to assist relatives of the victims or residents of the area who require it.
The place has experts in areas such as psychology and legal assistance, among other; began to receive some visitors from the morning of this Sunday.
Some community members who are shocked by the tragedy came to the community center just to show solidarity.
For the residents of the area, this tragedy is a severe emotional blow, especially since it occurs in one of the most traditional celebrations of the Asian community.
The authorities still They have not revealed how many relatives of the victims have come to the community center to seek help..
A memorial honoring the victims and survivors has been established at Monterey Park City Hall, at 320 W. Newmark Avenue.
The city called on the community to hold a vigil at 5:30 pm this Tuesday, January 24, at City Hall.
