Just over two weeks after the capture of Ovid Guzman In the community of Jesús María, located in Culiacán, Sinaloa, some details of the operation that led to the arrest of the son of the chapo guzman.
While the Mexican government announced that the arrest was the result of months of intelligence work, as well as an amazing military operation that was carefully planned to prevent a new “Culiacanazo”, another version suggests that the criminal leader was close to escaping from the authoritiesfor the second time.
The Mexican investigative journalist spoke about this argument Anabel Hernandez in his column “Contracorriente”, where he revealed details of the drug trafficker’s capture that were not disclosed in the official version.
Based on testimonies from personnel from institutions that participated in Ovidio’s capture, and which were corroborated by various sources, Hernández explained that the location of “El Raton” was given by the DEAand that elements of the United States government would have arrived from Sonora, all this without President López Obrador being aware of it.
Although the arrest of El Chapo’s son took place at dawn, the operation began at 10 p.m. on January 4. “We did not know anything until 10 pm; They quoted us in Mazatlán and they took away all the equipment, but we thought it was another matter”, pointed out one of the sources of information.
One phone call changed everything
But the success in locating Ovidio could turn into a new failure, since apparently the son of El Chapo had managed to escape from the house of Jesús María, and had even taken a few minutes advantage.
Nevertheless, his wife and daughters were trapped when shooting began from a helicopter gunship, and it is stated that one of the minors had a nervous breakdown. It was then that Adriana called Ovidio to tell him that the little girl was wrong.
According to the specialist in drug trafficking issues, it is stated that the criminal leader returned for his wife and daughters and there they caught him, reaching the negotiation that they leave his family safe and sound.
But that’s not all, because in addition It is noted that there were about 200 deaths in the operation, but that the Mexican government removed the bodies. Said version coincides with testimonies from local residents, with whom Anabel Hernández herself was able to communicate on January 6.
“It was a field of war against the civilian population… We don’t know the magnitude, but there are many dead and many wounded”recounted one of the residents.
