Colombian defender Mario Alberto Yepes turned 47 years old a couple of days ago.
In the midst of what were many congratulatory messages, there was one that drew attention, it was that of one of his former teams, Paris Saint Germain.
“Happy birthday, @MarioAYepes! 🎂 From PSG we wish a very happy 4️⃣7️⃣ years to the former Colombian defender. 🇨🇴 Greetings from Paris! ❤️💙”, was the message from the Parisian club.
Yepes wore the colors of PSG for four seasons, from 2004 to 2008. He came from FC Nantes, who sold him for 9.5 million euros.
At PSG, he won the French Cup in 2006, but did not win any more titles with the Paris team.
In addition to the message, PSG also shared a video showing Yepes’ best plays with them.
In total, the caleño disputed 140 matches with the PSG shirt and even scored 9 goals. Previously, the former center back for Deportivo Cali, River Plate and AC Milan had started his career in the league 1 from France as a footballer for Nantes in 2002.
The defender shared photos with his daughter miranda and his son Lucianoin which he is seen in different tourist sites in Europe.
He was captain with the Colombian team in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and starred in the quarterfinal elimination against the CanarinhaHe was also congratulated by his former Colombia teammates, Iván Ramiro Córdoba, Radamel Falcao García and Jeison Murillo, as well as other celebrities and acquaintances from Valle del Cauca.
He was with the Colombian team, with which he played 102 games; being the fourth player with the most international caps, behind David Ospina, Carlos Valderrama and Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
Of his most important steps, he took them with AC Milan, from Italy. At the time he was the first Colombian player to wear this shirt.
His debut with AC Milan was on November 7, 2010, facing AS Bari as a visitor with a 2-3 victory for his team.
On January 20, 2016, Yepes announced his retirement by organizing a press conference in his native Cali, where he announced the end of his soccer career.
