AK47 assault rifle shooting at Houston club; one person died and four others were injured

HOUSTON – One One person was fatally shot and four others were hospitalized after a shooting broke out outside a nightclub in northwest Harris County on Sunday. in the early morning, authorities said.

Around 50 shots were heard around 2 am, according to witnesses, who called the Police at the premises of a club located in the 5100 block of FM 1960 highway.

When officers arrived at the scene, five people, two men and three women, were injured with gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital.

Investigators said one of the men shot died of his injuries at the hospital. The other four people who survived are in stable condition.

Several people arrived in a vehicle and got off near a food truck parked on the club premises. One of the people was carrying an AK47 assault rifle and started shooting in the direction of a group of people.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said there is a possibility the shooting was likely directed at one or more people because of the way the shooter targeted those people.

Investigators believe that there was some kind of altercation inside the place and the people in the vehicle returned to settle accounts.

Officers are reviewing surveillance video and trying to question witnesses, but the vast majority fled the scene before police arrived.
