Recently on social networks, a “miraculous” product was released that claims to help with the loss of fat and body weight. It is the root of hawthorn, which has diuretic properties. However, experts say that its consumption can cause kidney damage.
The famous tejocote root pills are prescribed as a natural productl, which among its benefits creates a feeling of satiety, detoxifies the body, helps eliminate accumulated fat and prevents so-called snacks between meals.
Naturists assure that the pulverized and encapsulated hawthorn root has no preservatives, is effective in controlling cholesterol and triglycerides, and reduces anxiety and obesity. For his part, the fruit has been used for years to treat coughs and respiratory problems.
According to the indications, the pills should be taken for three months, always accompanied by 2 or 3 liters of water a day and consume foods rich in potassium.
But if it is as effective as it is said, why is it believed that it can damage the kidneys? Cristian Moraga, a medical specialist in anti-doping, points out that any product that aims to burn fat contains in its components a substance called amphetamines and also thyroid hormones, which help speed up metabolism, but in the long run affect the body.
The uncontrolled acceleration of metabolism in the face of a low diet produces, according to Moraga, a “metabolic shock” that results in sudden changes in blood pressure and heart rate, affecting organs as important as the kidneys.
The best thing to do when faced with the need to lose weight is to consult with a specialist. Remember that drinking water, having balanced meals and an exercise routine can help you reach your ideal weight.
