This Sunday, January 15, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona meet again in one of the most famous classics in world football. The final of the Spanish Super Cup that takes place in Saudi Arabia, can be seen for free in the United States after the signing of an unprecedented agreement between the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the ABC media.

Through a statement posted on the Federation’s website and a Twitter post with more than 2.3 million views, the Iberian football governing body released the news.

“The Super Cup final that Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will play on Sunday will be the first Spanish soccer classic that can be seen on free-to-air television in the United States. The ABC channel will send the signal to 125 million homes throughout the country, with retransmission in English; a figure that is added to the cable broadcast that will be made, in this case in Spanish, by ESPN Plus and ESPN Deportes, with a potential audience of more than 100 million people,” they indicated.

Where and at what time to see Real Madrid vs. Barcelona in the United States?

The signal will be distributed by ABC, but the match can also be enjoyed starting at 2:00 p.m. ET through ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN + in streaming.

The Twitter post where the Spanish Federation announced the agreement had thousands of negative responses from fans, who considered it unfair that the commitment is free in other countries except Spain.

“In the US it’s free, while here in Spain you have to pay to see it”; “Why do the Spanish Super Cup open in Spain, right? Better for a random drunk from the United States to enjoy it who will see it hoping that at some point they will say ‘home-run’”, were some reactions.

It should be remembered that the Spanish Super Cup changed its format a few seasons ago to mutate to a final four format with four teams and played in Saudi Arabia.
