What was once the favorite tourist destination for thousands of people, including celebrities, today is a violent place where organized crime has spread terror and death: Acapulco. Like other points in the Mexican state of Guerrero, it has become a name associated with illegal acts. The most recent was the discovery of four rotting bodies in the vicinity of the Black Lagoon of Puerto Marqués.

A call to 911 alerted to the discovery, ministerial police arrived at the site and confirmed that they were human bodies and that, according to local media, They showed signs of torture. Two corpses were in the water and two more on the edge of the road that connects said tourist site with another equally popular one, Revolcadero.

Police versions indicate that armed men lowered the bodies from a car and threw them into the lagoon. The victims were inside plastic bags and their hands were tied with cables..

It was the fetid smell given off by the bodies that alerted the residents of the area, who reported it to the authorities. According to experts from the Acapulco Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the victims they were around three days dead at the time of discovery.

Personnel from the Guerrero Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Secretariat, as well as from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), participated in the rescue of the bodies. Once the evidence was collected, the corpses were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) where the legal necropsy will be performed.
