At 34 years old, after at least four years out of the dynamics of the Mexican team and after not being called up to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández is faithful to his late motive of imagining ching**** things and still sees himself with a chance of being called up with El Tri for the next World Cup in 2026.
In an interview with the sports media 90 Min, the striker confessed that he feels strong and motivated to be present at the biggest football event that will take place in Mexico, the United States and Canada. Although he made it clear that it will depend on several factors.
“Yeah, look, there’s a guy who said ‘let’s imagine ching**** things’, so of course I would say yes. But obviously it requires a lot, how am I going to get there physically, what is the most important thing, ”he replied when asked about this matter.
“I think that with the care, with the investment of time and the work that I am doing to my body, my mind and my emotions, of course, why not? There are many examples of players, not only in football, who play at 40 and are extraordinary. So yeah, why not? It will depend on many factors, but my answer is yes,” he added.
Another of the issues analyzed by ‘Chicharito’ was the choice of the new coach who will replace the Argentine Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, with whom he had differences in recent years and chose not to take him to Qatar 2022.
Before the debate on whether the new strategist should be Mexican or foreigner, the striker was blunt: “I have been a foreigner in a country for 15 years and I would not like that because I am a foreigner they did not give me an opportunity to get a job,” he said.
After several years dismissed from El Tri due to disciplinary problems, Hernández would return to the national team for the next FIFA date in March. This was announced by the renowned journalist André Marín.
