A few days ago the capture of José Rodolfo Villarreal Hernández, alias “El Gato”alleged operator of the Beltrán Leyva cartel, and who was one of the most wanted men by the FBI since 2013.
Although the criminal leader was arrested by elements of the Navy in Mexico City, it is known that in recent years he lived in the state of Nuevo León, specifically in the municipality of San Pedro, considered one of the richest regions in Latin America.
But Not only Villarreal Hernández is the only criminal wanted by the DEA or the FBI who settled in Nuevo Leóndespite being an entity located in the north of Mexico and bordering the United States border.
It is known that another drug trafficker operating in that state is Fausto Isidro Meza Flores, alias “Chapo Isidro”who, according to the newspaper Excelsior, has carried out several operations by the Mexican authorities in San Pedro, a place where he settled for several years, although his area of influence includes other states such as Chihuahua, Sonora, Baja California and Nayarit.
This criminal is listed by the US government as the leader of the Meza-Flores criminal organization, so A $5 million reward is being offered for information leading to his capture..
The Department of Justice notes that “since January 2005, he conspired to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana from Mexico and elsewhere for importation into the United States.”
Another DEA objective that settled in Nuevo León was Isidro Leal González, alias “El Chilo”who was executed by his enemies on July 15, 2021 in the municipality of Escobedo.
“El Chilo” had been under investigation by US federal authorities since 2007 for drug trafficking and money laundering. His search form indicates that his last address was Nuevo León, where he ultimately died.
The 55-year-old criminal leader had been under investigation by US federal authorities in Houston, Texas, since 2007 for drug trafficking and money laundering.
One more drug trafficker fell in that entity at the hands of the authorities in July 2019. It is about Juan Ángel G., alias “El Juanillo”, who was wanted by the DEA. The offender was captured in the municipality of Apodaca when he was carrying various doses of drugs.
Precisely, drug dealing was the reason why he had an arrest warrant from the US authorities, since it was on the other side of the border that he carried out his operations. Once arrested, “El Juanillo” was transferred to the United States to face the corresponding trial.
