Fully immersed in his political career as governor of the state of Morelos, Cuauhtemoc Blanco Even so, he does not miss the opportunity to give his opinion on current football and especially on the Águilas del América, a club of which he is a legend.

“Cuau” has high approval ratings for his political office and within his own Social Encounter Party group they see him as possible candidate for the presidential elections in Mexico in 2024.

Even the former player did not hide the possibility of taking on that candidacy, albeit modestly and slowly: “I would like to, but I am not going to marry the idea. Other politicians look for one bone and then another, and another. I am not hungry, as we say in soccer”.

But in the midst of the growing insistence of the cream-blue fans to see the legend again with a role within the organization chart of America, Cuauhtémoc Blanco appeared in the future to take a bench as a coach.

Currently, the one who trains the Águilas is Fernando ‘Tano’ Ortiz, who has a good balance and the confidence of both the board of directors and the club’s followers, but given the growing demand emanating from Coapa, it would not be strange if he were to leave office at any moment. In what will be his second full semester in Liga MX in charge of the team, he will have the task of winning the long-awaited and long-awaited title 14.

In a public event held in Cuernavaca, The 49-year-old politician and retired player dropped that if required he would immediately take over as technical director of América: “If not, I will return, as I have always said, to be the coach of a team here. I would love to direct abroad, I would like one day to direct America and the Mexican National Team. We must go step by step”.

And it is that for Cuau, not only is being on one of the most difficult benches in the MX League in mind, but also the great challenge of taking the reins of the Mexican National Team, which is currently looking for who will lead its project after the failure in the Qatar 2022 World Cup with Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino.
